All Southern California Commissioner’s College degrees require that you be registered as a Commissioner and that your application meet the approval of your Council Commissioner or other designated individual.
Bachelor Of Commissioner Science (BCS)
Prerequisites
- Maintain registration as Commissioner during entire training program
- Complete Commissioner Orientation and Fast Start
- Successfully complete BSA’s Youth Protection Training within past 24 months.
- Complete Commissioner Basic Training
Requirements
- Complete seven courses at least five from the BCS group
- Approval of Council Commissioner or designated Assistant Council Commissioner
Master Of Commissioner Science (MCS)
Prerequisites
- Completion of Bachelor’s (BCS) degree or award of “Commissioner’s Key”
- Earned Arrowhead Honor
- Maintain registration as Commissioner during entire training program
- Successfully complete BSA’s Youth Protection Training within past 24 months.
Requirements
- Complete seven additional courses (for a total 14), at least seven courses must be from MCS group
- Approval of Council Commissioner or designated Assistant Council Commissioner
Doctor Of Commissioner Science (DCS)
Prerequisites
- Completion of Master’s (MCS) degree
- Earn the Commissioner’s Key
- Maintain registration as Commissioner during entire training program
- Successfully complete BSA’s Youth Protection Training within past 24 months.
Requirements
- Complete ten additional courses not used to qualify for other degrees(for a total 24), at least five courses must be from the DCS group
- Each course taught on the college teaching staff may be substituted for one course
- Each year spent on college staff (other than teaching) may be substituted for one course
- Complete an Approved Research Project or Thesis
- Serve on the Commissioner’s College staff for at least one year
- Recruit at least three new Commissioners
- Approval of Council Commissioner or designated Assistant Council Commissioner
