Produced with the cooperation and assistance of The California Inland Empire Council, Greater Los Angeles Area Council, Long Beach Area Council, Los Padres Council, Orange County Council, Southern Sierra Council, Ventura County Council, Verdugo Hills Council, Las Vegas Area Council, San Diego Imperial Council, and Western Los Angeles County Council.

All Southern California Commissioner’s College degrees require that you be registered as a Commissioner and that your application meet the approval of your Council Commissioner or other designated individual.

Bachelor Of Commissioner Science (BCS)

Prerequisites

  1. Maintain registration as Commissioner during entire training program
  2. Successfully complete Scouting Americas Safeguarding Youth Training within past 12 months.
  3. Complete Commissioner Basic Training

Requirements

  1. Complete seven courses at least five from the BCS group
  2. Approval of Council Commissioner or designated Assistant Council Commissioner

Master Of Commissioner Science (MCS)

Prerequisites

  1. Completion of Bachelor’s (BCS) degree
  2. Earned Arrowhead Honor
  3. Maintain registration as Commissioner during entire training program
  4. Successfully complete Scouting Americas Safeguarding Youth Training within past 12 months.

Requirements

  1. Complete seven additional courses (for a total 14), at least seven courses must be from MCS group
  2. Approval of Council Commissioner or designated Assistant Council Commissioner

Doctor Of Commissioner Science (DCS)

Prerequisites

  1. Completion of Master’s (MCS) degree
  2. Earn the Commissioner’s Key
  3. Maintain registration as Commissioner during entire training program
  4. Successfully complete Scouting Americas Safeguarding Youth Training within past 12 months.

Requirements

  1. Complete ten additional courses not used to qualify for other degrees(for a total 24), at least five courses must be from the DCS group
    • Each course taught on the college teaching staff may be substituted for one course
    • Each year spent on college staff (other than teaching) may be substituted for one course
  2. Complete an Approved Research Project or Thesis.
  3. Serve on the Commissioner’s College staff for at least one year.
  4. Approval of Council Commissioner or designated Assistant Council Commissioner

Doctor Of Commissioner Science Knot Award

Requirements

  1. Recruit at least three new Commissioners
  2. Serve as a Commissioner for a total of five years.
  3. Approval of Council Commissioner or designated Assistant Council Commissioner.
